Ticket check-in

Check guests in quickly at the door. Type a ticket number, or scan the QR code on the ticket if your device supports it, and see at once whether the ticket is valid, already used, or not found.

Check a ticket

Ticket numbers are checked against the event record on our server.

Today at the door

No tickets checked in on this device yet.

This list is kept only on this device and is cleared when you close the tab, so it never leaves the phone at the gate.

How check-in works

Each ticket carries a unique number and a QR code that encodes that number. When you check a ticket, Ikhaya looks it up against the event and reports whether it is valid, whether it has already been used, and, if it is valid, marks it as used so that the same ticket cannot be admitted twice. If the device has no network at the gate, the check will fail safely and tell you so rather than guess, and you can note the ticket number and check it again when you are back online.

Scanning

On a phone or tablet whose browser supports the camera barcode API, a scan button appears. Point the camera at the QR code on the ticket and the number is filled in for you. On a device that does not support it, type the number printed under the code; it is short and designed to be read aloud.

At the door

Have one person check tickets and one person welcome guests, so the queue keeps moving. Keep the screen brightness up, and if two people are checking, use two devices and check in from each. If a guest has lost their ticket, search by name on the guest list rather than turning them away, because the purpose of the door is to welcome people, not to catch them out.
