Ikhaya

Terms of use

These terms govern your use of Ikhaya. By creating a programme, or by opening one, you agree to them. We have kept them as plain as we can.

Last updated 21 October 2026.

Agreement

These terms form an agreement between you and Rovaya Group (Pty) Ltd, trading as Ikhaya Events & Legacy. If you use Ikhaya on behalf of a family, business, church or organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Your account and your programme

To build a programme you sign in with a one-time code sent to your phone or email. You are responsible for keeping that code and any host link private, and for everything done through your account. You are responsible for the content you publish: the names, dates, photographs, tributes, bank details and messages you choose to include. You confirm that you have the right to publish that content and that it does not break any law or anyone's rights. You keep ownership of your content; you give us permission to store, process and display it only so that we can run the service for you.

Acceptable use

You may not use Ikhaya to publish content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's copyright or privacy. You may not use a programme to collect money for a fraudulent purpose, to impersonate another person or organisation, or to send bulk messages to people who did not ask for them. You may not attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or to reach data that does not belong to you. We may suspend or remove a programme, and where necessary an account, if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

Guests and shared links

Anyone who has a programme link or QR code can open that programme, so please share it only with the people you intend. Do not put information in a programme that you would not want a stranger who receives the link to see. If you want a programme kept private, tell us before you share it and we will discuss the options available.

Payments and contributions

Ikhaya lets a host display bank details so that guests can make a transfer, and lets a host connect a payment provider for card payments. Ikhaya is not a bank, a payment processor or a party to the payment between a guest and a host. When a guest pays, the money moves directly between the guest and the host through the host's own bank or payment provider, and Ikhaya does not hold or control those funds. We are not responsible for a payment that is delayed, reversed, misdirected or disputed, or for a guest who enters a wrong reference. Always confirm bank details with the host through a channel you trust before paying, because criminals do impersonate funeral and wedding programmes.

Tickets

Where a host sells tickets, the host is the seller and sets the price, the quantity and the rules. Ikhaya provides the ticket, the QR code and the check-in tool. Refunds, exchanges and entry decisions are the host's responsibility unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.

Our service and its limits

We work to keep Ikhaya available and accurate, but we provide it on an "as is" basis. We do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not responsible for a guest's device, browser or network. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot be excluded.

Suspension and ending

You may stop using Ikhaya at any time and may ask us to delete a programme. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service we will give reasonable notice and a chance to export your programme.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time and will change the date at the top. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Ikhaya after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction over any dispute.
