Cookie notice
Ikhaya uses as few cookies as possible. This page lists every one of them, what it does, and how to change your mind.

What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep so that the site can remember something between pages or visits. Ikhaya also uses local storage, which is a similar browser feature that keeps a value on your device. We use both sparingly, and we never use them to follow you around the internet.
Essential cookies and storage
These are needed for the site to work and are set without asking, because POPIA allows the processing that is necessary to provide a service you have requested. The theme entry remembers whether you prefer the light or dark look. The language entry remembers whether you chose English, isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans. The consent entry remembers the choice you made on the cookie banner so that we do not ask again. A short-lived entry may cache the details of a programme you opened so that it loads instantly the next time. None of these identify you to anyone else.
Analytics, only with consent
If you accept analytics, Ikhaya records anonymous page views so that a host can see roughly how many people opened a programme and which links brought them there. An analytics record contains the page path, the programme slug, the referring site without its query string, the language you chose, and a coarse device family such as "android" or "ios". It contains no name, no email address, no precise location, no advertising identifier and no cookie that follows you to other websites. We do not use a third-party advertising network. If you refuse analytics, or withdraw consent, no analytics are recorded, and the rest of the site works exactly the same.
Error reporting
We keep a small error log so that we can fix faults. By default it records only anonymous technical details, and it never records the content of a form you filled in. If you have accepted analytics we may also attach the page path to an error so that we can tell which page failed.
Changing your choice
You can change or withdraw your analytics choice at any time. Clear the Ikhaya site data in your browser settings, or use the button below, and the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit so that you can choose differently. Refusing analytics does not remove the essential entries, because the site cannot work without them.
Do not track
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal we treat it as a refusal of analytics and do not record page views for you.
